Each Spring, a strong and willing group of Berkshire School students generously gives nearly a day of hard labor, greening up one of Construct’s properties.
This year in April, they came to 41 Mahaiwe Street in Great Barrington where they were scheduled to finish painting our new addition, Priscilla’s Room, a fun project for teens.
It was, however, too cold to paint outdoors so Plan B was put in place: a major clean up of a dark and disorganized cellar as well as some yard work.
No task was too dirty or tedious for these energetic young people!
Meanwhile, back on campus, a small crew was cooking a full meal for both the men’s and the women’s house: baked ziti, tossed green salad, fresh bread and an array of confetti cupcakes with sprinkles and deep dark chocolate brownies. This brought many smiles to the faces of our homeless men and women in residence.
Our sincere thanks to both crews for their hard work and generous spirits.
A spunky Pippi Longstocking sort of personality, Kathy is a six-year-old with big blue eyes who rarely sits still — unless, of course, she’s focused on a very important drawing. [Read More…]
